Velma Lee Bishop
Velma Lee Bishop, 85, Edina, MO, died Wednesday, September 9, 1998, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina.
She was born in Leonard, MO, on October 22, 1912, the daughter of Ralph and Effie Howerton Kidwell.
On October 16, 1932, she was married to Noble Lee Bishop in Canton, MO.
She is survived by her husband, Noble, of Edina; eight children, Donna Stockham and her husband, Kenneth, Festus, MO, Mike Bishop and his wife, Carol Lee, Edina; Sue Johnson and her husband, Dick, Baring; Jack Bishop and his wife, Mary, Edina, Dan Bishop and his wife, Judy, Baring, J. W. Bishop of Farmington, MO, Janice McGinnis and her husband, Mike, Edina, Brenda Beckner and her husband, Mike, Corydon, IA; one brother, J. R. Kidwell, Sacremento, CA; twenty-one grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Hunsaker of Mexico, MO and Helen Bishop of Columbia and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one great-grandchild and two sisters, Pearl Snow and Dortha Taylor.
Mrs. Bishop has lived most of her life in Edina, and graduated from the Edina High School in 1931.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Edina. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary; American Cancer Society and Matilda Chapter #411 Order of the Eastern Star, Edina.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 12, 1998, at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel, Edina, with Reverend Dwayne Wellborn officiating.
Music was provided by Toni Riekebery (sic), soloist and Carol Hayes, organist. Musical seslections were "In the Garden" and "On Eagle Wings."
Burial was in the Linville Cemetery in Edina, MO.
Casketbearers were grandsons Kent Stockham, Michael Bishop, Mark Bishop, Mike Gardner, David Gardner, Kelly Gardner, Ryan Bishop, Jerry Bishop, Chris Bishop, Kevin McGinnis and Adam Beckner.
